mohastangar in bangladesh/ tour in mogastangar

Welcome to Mohastangar, historical place in Bangladesh.

Mahasthangar is one of the historical place in Bangladesh. Mahasthangar is situated in Shibganj thana of Bogra District. It is called the second capital city of Bangladesh which was called Pundranagara. It is revealed in 1931, The equipped area was in use till the 18th century AD.[2]
It is one of the ancient places of Bangladesh; there is the Mazhar (holy tomb) of Shah Sultan Balkhi Mahisawar(Rh) which was  built at the position of a Hindu temple is placed at Mahasthangarh. He was a Saint (holy person devoted to Islam) of royal heredity who came to Mahasthangarh area of Bangladesh, with the objective of spreading Islam among non-Muslims. He transformed the people of the area to Islam and established there.
Mahasthangarh, the ancient capital of Pundravardhana is situated 11 km (6.8 mi) north of Bogra of bangladsh on the Bogra-Rangpur main road, with a feeder road (running along the eastern side of the ramparts of the fort for 1.5 km) leading to Jahajghata and site museum. Buses, CNGs, and other vehicles are available for Bogra from Dhaka and take almost 4½ hours for the journey via Bangabandhu Jamuna Bridge crosswise the Jamuna River.Big and small Buses are available from Bogra to Mahasthangarh. Rickshaws are also available for neighboring movement. Hired transport is available from Dhaka to Bogra. Accommodation is available at Bogra. When travelling in a hired vehicle, one can return to Dhaka the same day, unless somebody has a plan to visit Somapura Mahavihara at Paharpur in the district of Naogaon and other places, or hold in a detailed study tour.
It is said that the position for the city in the area was determined upon because it is one of the premier areas in Bangladesh. The land in the area is almost 36 meters (118 ft) above sea level, while Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, is around 6 meters (20 ft) above sea level. Another reason for choosing this place was the place and size of the Karatoya River which as recently as in the 13th century was three times wider than Ganges.
Mahasthangarh stands on the red soil of the Barind territory which is slightly elevated within the mostly alluvium region. The elevation of 15 to 25 meters above the surrounding areas makes it a relatively flood free physiographic part.Every year many people come to visit Mohastangar as a part of study tour and picnic. Everyday almost 200 buses come here with a huge amount of people. We are proud of Mohastangar.
